Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] ? 2-micron Racor fuel filters?
Hi Ruedi,
Just had this week a Sydney VOLVO mechanic on board to install the new engine.
I also had 1 “2 micron” filter on board while all the others were 10 micron; he used that “2 micron” filter and told me that since my diesel was very clean it was no problem and I might as well use that filter now.

Hi all
I recently changes Racor fuel filter, which usually are 10-micron. Amel does recommend for the Racor Filter to use 10-micron as well. I found spare parts from former owner; - same but 2-micron filters for Racor. Question: Does anyone ever used 2-micron (or 5-micron) instead of the 10-micron? If yes, how it worked? I can imagine that the 2-micron filters are too narrow and fuel flow will be affected.
Best regards Ruedi

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Sea water pump
Kent, Ahhh, trying to catch me in a mistake? I do make them, but not this time! The Amel 54 has a distribution relay/power converter (Frigoboat E51385) that allows the connection of either 12VDC or 24VDC pumps. The issue is that this relay is connected to 12VDC output terminals on the Danfoss compressor controller. Output Terminals on The Danfoss are marked “+” and “F.” These terminals will will always be 12VDC, even if power supplied to compressors is 24V. Frigoboat states that either a 12VDC or 24VDC pump can be used. BTW, E51385 has been replaced by a simple relay(s). Hi Kent - Leave the flange on the first sleeve and install it. Now clip the flange of the second sleeve down to the break-off groove that's machined into each sleeve. Your basic diagonal cutting pliers work nicely. Now install the second sleeve, pushing it up close to the first one. Finally, just use a needle-nose pliers to peel off the flange. The SKF directions and web-site cover all. No grinding or cutting needed, although I suppose you could smooth the flange edge a bit with a Dremel if it's rough, but it probably won't hurt anything. On my last haul out a month ago I used a new WOB I had from Amel and did it the "Amel way" with first two seals facing in and third seal facing water. Will check in with Jose in two or three years and see how his experiment works with first two out and last one in. Then may get a 17-4 stainless WOB made, or Amel may get around to supplying the "experimental" model as standard or Jose's way may carry the day! Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Sea water pump
Bill, you are talking about 12v pumps for refrigerator cooling systems. Kristy has air-cooled compressors, all are 24v. Are the 54s outfitted with 12v refrigerators? If so, how are they powered?

I believe the complete number for Mark & Debbie Mueller "Brass Ring" posting is Flojet Flojet 4105-512. This is 12VDC with 3/4" close to 20mm hose barb fittings. Of course, on a 54, you can wire either a 12VDC, or a 24VDC pump to the pump controller. May be the 2 following illustration will help you. http://www.nikimat.com/boom_extension_car.html and http://www.nikimat.com/boom_extension_car_rebuild.html I say “may be” because I recently went on an earlier SM and it did not seem having the necessary space to add the track (which is what you mention on your post). Is the track bolted or screwed down.I tried to back out a screw and it did not budge and started to strip. I was thinking I could cut vertically a section out and then screw it back down , leaving only two narrow cuts. I could also just make one cut say 6 inches from the end and take out the last fasteners. It would have been nice if Amel had made the track a few inches shorter with a stop on the end.Thanks,PatSM#123
