Re: B&G Masthead Unit 213
Duane Siegfri
Kent,
I sent you an email, but if anyone else is interested, be sure you have the B&G model #213. This model has 10 pins in the connector: 3 pins in the top row, four pins in the second row, and 3 pins in the bottom row. There was a 7 pin connector from 1996, then the 213 10-pin connector, and assorted others. See: http://www.tinleyelectronics.com/bandg/masthead%20unit%20tests.pdf It's a "Buy it Now" set price ebay item, no bidding. First come first served. Duane, Wanderer, SM#477

I can not add anything to the discussion on the details of the switch, since my boat has been retrofitted there, but I I had a list of "tools for a boat, and included the wire tracer I have used to good effect.

B&G Masthead Unit 213
Duane Siegfri
I've removed the B&G Masthead Unit in the switchover to a NMEA 2000 electronics system. I puchased this one right after Hurricane Irma ruined our old one in November of 2017. So this one is only 5 months old and ready for a new Owner. It's listed on Ebay if anyone is interested at less than half of the new price. If you want a spare for your system, this is as good a deal as you'll find. Nearly new and half the price. Duane Wanderer, SM#477

Leopold,
From my memory I don't think the sheaves are 100mm in diameter on my boat (almost 4 inches), do I read your sketch correctly? Perhaps it's the difference in the hull numbers? Thanks, Duane Wanderer, SM#477

I’m on the boat at the moment for the first time since Christmas and have a list of ‘to dos’ as long as my arm (at which point the ink ran out!) I’m here till tues am when I fly home again then the family and I all head out hear again in July to start a cruise. I’ve taken my old main set of sails to a local sailmaker that a local friend recommended ( Luis in Tenerife -happy to share his number just shout) and hoping to get some time tomorrow to get the other sails out work out a plan Strangely on my Maramu a previous owner installed a removable staysail stay. Seems a bit weird to me as even though it’s only for a small storm sail I’m not that keen on the fact it has no equivalent backstay support. But it does have a deck fitting / attachment point fwd of the windlass. So if I did go for a removable forestay I would cannibalise the removable staysail bits. I’ll look more closely at my set up and then weigh that in with lots of good advice from you guys to use what I’ve got rigging wise 😉 I’ll let you know what I opt for in the end and thanks again for help and advice All the best Miles

Hi Mark & Bill R and all, Thanks for the photos Mark, I've forwarded one on to Maud and she's checking now to see if she can find them. I have the same set up with two sheaves. The third sheave I was talking about is for the halyard for the mainsail. Has anybody ever changed the sheave for the mainsail halyard? I believe there might be two - one over the furler foil to accept the halyard on the way up and another one in the middle of the mast to guide the halyard down. Has anybody any information on this? Thanks. Gerhard SY Pepino SM381 Greece

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Propane switch

Bill, I do not have a dedicated breaker, otherwise the power source would be obvious and easy to check . I will have to sort this out myself , and put this thread to bed. Just one last question , can you recommend a wire tracer or tracker , knowing you I am sure you have one.

I recall another SM close to your hull number that had no solenoid, only the manual valve. Although I am not 100% sure that boat was unchanged, I believe it was original. In any case, Eric's SM is definitely different from yours. Eric's SM and those later had a dedicated breaker on the 24V panel which had a red light next to it.
