Lovely job!

We are in the middle of doing the same refit.

Looked at several different materials and settled on King Starboard.  You can get just about any color, size and thickness you want.

We went with black, intentionally trying to contrast with the original helm color.  The thickness used was 3/8 inch.  The finish is matte, so we minimize glare.  The material is stable and can be worked with standard work working tools.

Thank you Gary, Alexander an Leopold for all of the responses. And particularly for the additional details on the part and access.

I have added the capacitor to my shopping list and hopefully my daughter will be able to bring it when she visits in a couple of weeks.

I have seen the instructions for access and removal of the dishwasher and did not want to undertake that until I had a good idea of what I should be looking for and what parts I should need to complete the job.

Thanks and best regards,

All,

It is my true pleasure to announce our next ZOOM meeting for 10 April at 2000 UTC.

The Subject of this meeting is “How to work with a broker to Buy or Sell your Amel." Included will be tips from one of the world's most experienced Amel brokers, Joel Potter.

I asked Joel Potter to place some of his Amel knowledge and his love of the brand aside for this ZOOM meeting. I asked Joel to use his experience to help you understand how to best work with a yacht broker as a Buyer and as a Seller. I also asked him to provide you with some inside information and tips on how to work with any broker. I do not think that you will find this ‚Äúinside information‚ÄĚ and tips anywhere.

If you own an Amel, someday you will be selling her and a few tips can be worth thousands. If you plan on buying an Amel, chances are you will hear advice that will be ‚Äúpriceless.‚ÄĚ

Joel Potter began his Amel selling career 40 years ago in 1981. Since that time and up to the present Joel has sold Amel yachts, almost exclusively. In 2015, Joel retired from selling new Amel boats after nearly 35 years of being Amels exclusive representative for all of North America in order to concentrate on selling preowned Amel boats.

Joel has sold some Amels multiple times, first when they were new and up to 6 times as resales. Without a doubt, Joel knows Amels and he is one of the few brokers in the world that I recommend. Joel is amazingly linked to Amel and one of Amel’s biggest supporters. Joel has also personally owned two Super Maramus and an Amel 54.

Hello, looking for some troubleshooting tips for my Volvo penta on my 55#13

After replacing the starter battery the engine doesn't start. May be my last try to start the engine with the old starter battery was damaging the pcu. I measure at pin B32 only 10.5 Volt. All the relays and fuses are ok.

In the engine room I find a box 12 and 24 Volt with Murphy Relais. I think this is for the two alternators.

Any help is very much appreciated.

I recently had similar symptoms on our dishwasher  (SM 335), fixed it to sell the boat.  It indeed was a smoked capacitor on the pump motor.  My experience is that any electrical problem aboard the boat is that any capacitor in the circuit has failed unless proven otherwise.

Access was by removing the gimbled stove and the crash bar in front of it, removing the Amel cabinetry panel on the forward face of the dishwasher (4 screws as I recall), removing the metal panel on the forward face of the dishwasher (several sheet metal screws), and removing two sheet metal screws on the port side of the bottom panel to allow that panel to drop down somewhat so my hand could reach to the outboard (port) aft side of the enclosure to access the capacitor.  The capacitor is in the far back of the outboard side of the housing below the washer vessel.   It is a stud mount, 5 microfarad 470 VAC  that I obtained from Mouser Electronics (2 including shipping to Puerto Rico for $21 in 2020)   https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/epcos-tdk/b32332i6505j82/?qs=A6ThuIxGArANd2wDnaK6CA%3D%3D&countrycode=US&currencycode=USD
Thereafter everything worked like a charm.

Hope this helps

Hi Dan,

we had a similar problem in marinas with 50 hertz.
Or does it also react like this on gen-set?

If yes I could ask the Austrian dealer for Eumenia ( he is a specialist for this not-any-more-existing brand but doesn’t speak English) if he has an idea about the reason for this nuisance.

Hello, looking for some troubleshooting tips for my Eumenia dishwasher on SM#387.

It powers up, and runs thru the cycle: 1)locks the lid, 2)pumps any residual water out, 3) fills with water, 4) heats the water, 5) drains and repeats the cycle for rinse. But it does not pump and spray any water up on to the dishes.

I have not tried to remove or access the unit.  I suspect either a pump is Frozen or a capacitor?

I did not notice and peculiar smells or noises.  We did successfully run it a couple times back November or December?

Anyone with experience with this that they can share would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards, Daniel Carlson on sv BeBe, SM#387

Fuel Bladders

Mark Erdos

I ask this more out of curiosity than anything else. What are people opinions of fuel bladders for excess diesel on longer passages?

I have seen some conversations where owners have bladders atop the aft cabin and lashed to the hand rails. To me, this seems like it would be a lot of weight in the wrong place. How does the fuel not cause a greater angle of heel and, the bigger question,  are the hand-hold railings strong enough to hold the weight of potentially shifting diesel (0.832kg/litre)?
