Cyclone Pam relief and how you can assist
It's a shame Dave, that's a sad way to leave. Unfortunately you overreacted to Hanspeter's polite comment that your post should be on a different forum and have made the only insulting comments I have

Day tank/extra fuel tank in the life-raft locker
There's a lot to be said for carrying plenty of Jerry cans rather than filling storage space with a fixed tank, especially in third world countries where cleaner fuel can be got by going to a service

Anchor Swivel - trusted or not
Colin, Yachting Monthly in May 2006 did a destructive test of anchor chain, shackles and swivels. I just happen to still have a copy (yikes). Generally the stainless steel chain was very slightly weak

Keel bolt bonding strap
I was thinking of a little anode hanging on a wire and fastened to the bolt on at the top where the wires are. It would be quite interesting to do it just to see if it gets eaten away at all. Fortunat

I suppose technically the best to protect the strap would be a small zinc anode on it as the bilge water is not in the same water body as the rudder anode (unless you have a very big problem!). I woul

Electric Motor/Pump to the toilet
Its worth considering changing the seal even on a brand new pump to a good quality nitrile seal from a bearing shop. It seems both Johnson and Jabsco pump shaft seals are more sensitive to chemicals t

It seems appropriate to mention another useful website - http://www.usno.navy.mil/JTWC. the Joint Typhoon Tracking Warning Centre run by the US Navy. Maybe it can help reduce the use of these drogues!

Alex, For a perfect answer you should check with Yanmar..... However I have had hydraulic PRM and Borg Warner transmissions and they could both be freewheeled. I think your gearbox should be freewheel
