ONAN replacement or not?
As Scott says, the lithium profile holds many potential advantages, particularly for longer term cruisers. The one disadvantage in my mind is that they are too lightweight for the Amel 54 and maybe SM

Thanks Matt, much appreciated. Did you install Firefly batteries in your new A50 or did you make the leap to Lithium? Cheers, Dean SV Stella A54-154

I hear and read about so many cruisers with defective Firefly batteries. Its also clear that the manufacturer has usually replaced them under warranty after sending the customer through some testing h

Bill Kinney, maybe you could also 'chime in' regarding Firefly batteries. Are you still happy with them after 2-3 years? Dean SV Stella A54-154

Well that bursts the bubble of having batteries that are more capable than AGM at lower SOC for half the price of LFP AND don't cause the A54 to list more to port. I can't believe my thought pattern a

Slavko, I researched Rolls batteries last year and my choice was the S12-128 model, but this was driven partly by the fact that they are drop-in replacements for my existing Zenith AGM's. Rolls batter

Nick, I would recommend balancers as I have personal experience of AGM getting unbalanced, and I believe this should be avoided. Especially since the balancer is cheap. Victron suggest their balancer

Hi Alan, Thanks for your contribution to the pro-AGM argument. We've chatted about the benefits of battery balancing before and we are in full agreement about its value in a series-string based system

Hi Courtney, That's a tough lesson indeed. Good luck with the Relion kit, that's a great amount of power for a good price. Unfortunately I cant get that kind of pricing in the UK. Hi Scott/Brent, Yes

A question to the hive mind re Amel 54 (Sleipner side power) Bow thruster capacitor please.
Porter, There is also a possibility that the component is not a capacitor. It could be a varistor. If so, it may be a little more difficult to source. Hopefully Sleipner will wake up soon! Cheers Dean

A question to the hive mind re Amel 54 (Sleipner side power) Bow thruster capacitor please.
Hi Porter, Is (was) there only one capacitor in the system? Seems like a 4-brush motor might have at least one more. If so, maybe you can carefully lift one leg off and measure it? I would surmise tha
