[Amel Yacht Owners] Rigging
Hi David, toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
We own a Amel Kirk no 146 from 1974 with rigging from about 1995. Last month we had the rigger modify our backstay by cutting off the old terminal and inserting a backstay trimmer. Anyway, the strands looked fine inside.
So we advise testing first!
We once had the tensioners tested at Bart's employer (a jet engine overhaul centre) and that revealed a crack in one of them.
In our experience with boat designs and as a technician you can trust the calculations of the designer. So meet the minimum requirements of your insurer or whatever make you feel at ease with and choose the highest level of maintenance from these two.

Subject: [Amel Yacht Owners] Rigging
Hi Everybody, I have an amel Santorin no 119. I'm about to have the masts down for some work. It has been suggested that I should have the rigging tested/replaced. She's 1995 vintage.
I wonder if any body has any knowledge of Amel recomendations on rigging , experience of Uk insurers or other useful information re rigging.
Also does anybody have experience of tests on rigging, I presume ultra-sonic.
