My Maramu has gas struts from the factory.

Subject: [Amel] Engine Room Hatch

Our '84 Maramu is almost ready to be launched and I wanted to ask the group
about securing the engine room hatch when it is open. There is no built in
provision for doing so that I can detect. Did the boat come with any system
when built? What do Maraumu / SM owners use to keep the hatch open? We
considered using gas struts but I'm leaning towards the low tech solution of
just running a line from the hatch and tying it off to the mizzen or the
dodger?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Your low tech solution conclusion is correct. Your boat came from the
shipyard with a short length of line with an "S" hook that went from the
mizzen to the vertical lip of the fiberglass engine room hatch when open.

Thanks, all for the responses.

I guess we'll stick with the low tech after all, seeing how it's OEM :-)
