I really like this idea. It's quick and easy. The only drawback I see is someone forgetting about the valve position. Of course when we're back in the tropics, we're not showering inside. Are you summering in the Sea of Cortez this year? I saw a Maramu in SF Bay that I didn't recognize a few weeks ago. Please let us know next time you visit the Bay Area. We'd love to see you. Hi Dave,
Another option is to install an after-market sump and pump box in the space under the salon floor at the foot of the companionway steps. You can cut the hose coming from the fwd shower drain to the bilge and attach it to the box, then route a hose from the box exit to wherever you want to send it overboard. Even more elegantly, install a y-valve on the input side of the box so that you can direct the drain flow either to the box, or to the bilge when the sump pump stops working (which they always do, sooner or later). Of course, if you also use the aft shower this doesn't solve your problem!
