[Amel Yacht Owners] Volvo TMD 22 P Parts to absolutely have?

Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>

Alex,

I have the 100hp Yanmar, so I am not the best person to ask. I do carry a spare starter, but not a spare 12V alternator. The reason being that the only thing that alternator charges is the starting battery...and the 12V alternator on the generator also charges the starting battery...and if both alternators fail (very, very unlikely), you can use one of the 12V house batteries to jump-start.

Possibly something about a solenoid or may be a fuse? Can't remember.
Also please don't hesitate to let me know which parts you would stock (aside hoses, belt, injectors, thermostats, filters)
I was also recommended (by a Volvo mechanic) a spare starter and alternator (12 volt).

Sincerely, Alexandre

Good morning Bill,

Excellent, I was thinking the same for the alternator (since there is one on the genset, plus the possibility to use the house battery, plus I have a 12 volt charger from AC current).
Noted you have a spare starter.

So you do have a spare 175 amp Alternator?
The rest I have (equivalent on my engine)

I will complete my genset spare parts list with the fuel pump, solenoid and starter which I did not had.

As alway, many thanks!

Sincerely, Alexandre

Good morning,

I can't remember who, but someone on the forum a few months ago, said there was some parts recommend to absolutely have for an extended cruise…

Thanks Eric,

Someone has pointed a part out… might he a relay… but can't find the name of the part.

Did you receive my reply for meeting?

Alexandre

Alex,I being a belt and suspenders kind of
guy.i went to the manuals for my engine and
generator and ordered every part, hose, sender, alternator,
pump and starter that i could replace.I also have
a spare set of hydraulic hoses for the transmission and a
rebuild kit and hoses for the watermaker. Also every other
pump as a spare on the boat and a head rebuild kit and a
spare switch for the
head..erissm 376 Kimberlite

Bill,

Thanks for the list of spares - it is a great help.  I have been trying to identify a source for the Onan tube for the low pressure switch.  You list the part as:

Tube for Low Water Pressure switch130-5387-02

I can find several sources for 130-5387-01, but none for 130-5387-02.  From where did you source this part?

Best regards,

Derick

Thanks for the list of spares - it is a great help.  I have been trying to identify a source for the Onan tube for the low pressure switch.  You list the part as:

Tube for Low Water Pressure switch

130-5387-02

I can find several sources for 130-5387-01, but none for 130-5387-02.  From where did you source this part?

Best regards,

Derick

Derick,

I ordered it from Cummins Onan dealer in Houston. I am not sure that you need that as a spare. I ordered one because I was replacing the sender. Sometimes I think I over-think spares...I really did not need it.

My contact for the part: thomas.n.moore"at"cummins.com

ha ha  Bill,

I like that !!

I think I think too much about spares too...I hear about someone who has to replace something and I order it.
BUT I'd rather have them than not...you never know..!
