We've donated some funds to OceansWatch, which will be bringing badly needed relief supplies to some of the more remote villages. Unlike many of the relief agencies, OceansWatch has been working in the Solomon Islands for several years establishing MMA's (Marine Managed Areas), sustainability projects, training locals on Operation ReefCheck, and many other sound initiatives.
If you would like to check them out visit http://www.oceanswatch.org and to donate, the page is http://givealittle.co.nz/cause/cyclonepamrelief
One of the really fantastic things about using Givealittle is that it's supported by a charity that absorbs the credit card fees so every penny of the donation reaches Ocea
nsWatch and is being used to buy things like tarpaulins to serve as temporary roofing and a means of water collection. They will be bringing some chainsaws that will be used to recycle materials from badly damaged structures.
Thank you for your consideration and please share these links if you don't mind.

Wow.... Surely there should be an exception to a rule....As Cruisers we are dependent on local goodwill....the reported devistation on Vanuatu after the cyclone is humbling. These people need our support. Just a thought Chris Smither Akwaaba , santorin 027

I agree Chris. A one time appeal and insight into what's going on is OK with me. Craig, does Seven Seas have a way for cruisers to pool funds through someone in the area? It'd be cool to send a nice donation from Cruisers... especially to help those who help us so much. Kent SM 243 Kristy

I'm with you on this. We have been to Vanuatu a number of times both in Ocean Pearl and a previous yacht. The generosity and hospitality of the people on the remote islands was great.. For us from wealthy communities it is hard to comprehend, when the tropical fruit trees and the coconut palms are stripped by 300 kmh winds and the crops washed away they have no food, there is no supermarket or food shop down the road. They disparately need help. They are a resourceful people but right now they have so little to work with. Regards Danny SM 299 Ocean Pearl

Hanspeter,
I have been on this forum for 6 or 7 years and helped several owners with projects.
To date I have made this one post that did not pertain to Amel. We have many posts on here that really have nothing to do with Amel, simply generic boat topics. Those aren't of interest to me but I would never be rude and criticize people making those posts.
Quite frankly you can just ignore my posts if you don't like them. It's obvious you don't care about the indigenous peoples of these islands which have been visited by some of us and are on the itinerary for others.
I hope you find some happiness so you don't lash out in the future when someone is trying to help those people who are far less advantaged than we are.
