[Amel Yacht Owners] Hi Olivier

Olivier Beaute

Hi Eric,

no I don't know but I will try to get the information asap.
In between, you may be able to get the information from someone who is aboard his (her) Super Maramu with a SPURS rope-cutter (???!!!).
When AMEL originally mounted a SPURS rope-cutter, as the fixed blade is inserted in a specific stainless steel oil drain plug/bolt, the original bronze oil drain plug was put aboard with the original batch of spare parts.
If the "SPURS SM" owners dig in their spare parts boxes, they may find this bolt...

Olivier

I have the bolt Olivier is speaking of and I will measure it tomorrow, but Eric was also asking about the thread pitch. I will not be able to tell, but my guess is that it would be standard metric.

Hi Olivier,

I have the V shaped bolt in my sail drive.. I was looking to find a matching piece of pipe to make a longer drain for the C-Drive. I do have the Spurs line cutter but I did not receive the drain plug when I took delivery.

The oil drain plug bolt is 20mm and it has coarse threads, not fine threads. It is made of bronze...its threaded length is 25mm then it has a collar with an O ring...the collar is 30mm.

I will post a photo later today.

Bill,

Thanks- I have a S/S plug with a “V” groove in it to lock in the line cutter.

I will buy a S/S bolt and drill and tap it for a hose barb (as per the Jenkins) and put a hose on it for future draining.

Eric,

Isn't 20mm the same as, or close to 3/4"?

Possibly one off those plastic hose barbs with male 3/4" will work for you. I wouldn't try steel because of possible thread damage, but I would try plastic or nylon.

Hi Eric,

the plug is a 20x250. This means the diameter is 20 mm and the thread is 250, for one turn, the screw translates of 2.5mm.
Take a bronze one, if you find one, it will be easier to drill than a steel one (forget stainless steel).
I know you could have one made in silver alloy in your personnal workshop, but I'm not sure how to weld a pipe then...
(just kidding).

Have a good day.

Olivier.
