[Amel Yacht Owners] AMFA Marina bilge pump
I put in a Jabsco pump after several failures of the original in the first few years I owned SM 243. It has been working great for 5 years now. I took it apart to prophylactically change the valves before leaving on my Jacksonville FL to Bonaire passage(stop in Puerto Rico), and everything looked as new. The pump is mounted where the original one was, on a new shelf. It is more power efficient, pumps more water, and parts can be procured almost anywhere at a reasonable price. They make several models that would work on our boats. Kent SM 243 Kristy Currently Bonaire, NA

I used my last AMFA rebuild kit so now have two non functioning bilge pumps. Can anyone recommend a source for rebuild kits or nitrol diaphragms? Or can anyone recommend a replacement pump in the event kits are not available? Ben Driver La Bella Vita SM #347

We are also in the process of adding a Jabsco pump as a third pump, or 2nd electrical pump after both the original electric and manual pumps failed on SM #332. Not yet sure why they failed but will repair them with Amel sourced parts so we have three pumps. Has anyone else added a third pump and where did you place it? Kent Please provide the model of your new bilge pump. Jubsco makes several different models of bilge pumps.

There are several Jabsco pumps that would work. I chose model 34600-0010, 24V, 3.5A, 10.8 gal/min. I will post a pic of it on the shelf I added to mount it where the old one was located. My float switch failed. I found a replacement at Radio Shack in the US. It has a softer mechanism and longer "handle" than any of the marine switches I could find. It has worked fine for almost a year now. Kent SM 243 Kristy Currently Bonaire
