[Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Frigoboat Fridge Model # and Gasket

Derick, Thanks for that. I know that number designates everything that is a mechanical ir electrical part in the refrigerator. It is the number for the kit consisting of compressor, evaporator, and condenser with cooling fan. It may also be the number for the cabinet...I'll check it out. Bill Rouse

Hi Bill, Please let me know what you find as I also need to replace the seal. My HVAC guy showed me a trick. When you close something that has a seal. Put a dollar bill, between the seal and the mating surface. If you can pull the bill out easily you have a seal leak. Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376

My Frigoboat model number on top of the fan housing says: AV 35 F
Are you looking for a different number (e.g. on the compressor)?

Yes, Eric. When I was adjusting the door using a dollar bill, I could only get about 80% to seal...I could not get it all. In fairness, I think the best way to adjust the door is with the refrigerator laying on its back and all 6 hinge screws loose...center the door, then tighten the 6 screws. I have not tried that, but I believe that may solve the issue. If not, when I have it out I'll make note of the model number and see if a magnetic gasket is available. I will let you and everyone else know here. Bill Rouse On May 28, 2016 3:26 PM, "'sailormon' kimberlite@... [amelyachtowners]" <amelyachtowners@...> wrote:

Hey Bill and Eric, my refrigeration guy told me to use a $100 bill as that’s what he will charge me to show up and replace it.

Joel, You know that I am in Carriacou, Grenada and you know the currency is Eastern Caribbean Dollars. There is no EC one dollar bill and I had no US one dollar bill. I used a $100 EC bill. I didn't originally want to say that I was adjusting a refrigerator door with hundred dollar bills, but you brought it up. For those that do not know $2.70 EC = $1.00 USD. Derick, I think the under seat fridge freezer may have the exact components except the evaporator as the upright fridge. Eric, Yes, I did the same thing with shimming the gasket. All, (I actually think my problem is having the door miss-adjusted for a while and drawing the door tight with the latch. I think this deformed the gasket. When the door is properly aligned the magnet should pull the door against the frame and the latch should only be necessary when the boat is actually moving. That latch has some adjustment also. Because time and bad adjustments have deformed the gasket, I need to start with a new magnetic gasket. Bill BeBe 387 Carriacou On Sun, May 29, 2016 at 12:24 AM, sailormon kimberlite@...
