Mohammad,

Since Amel installed at least two different systems, it may help if you start with a photo of yours or the brand of the pump. It may even be possible that none of what you have is Amel installed because possibly the previous owner changed everything in the fresh water system.

Also, if you will go to the Photo section of the Amel Group website and search on "fresh water" you will see 4 or 5 photo albums of what you are asking for. On our Amel 54, it appears, that the original fitting at the output of the water pressure tank was replaced with another make shift one that has now failed. This would be a brass fitting that attaches to the water pressure tank's output and would have the water pressure gauge, the water pressure switch and the water supply line attached to it.


It would really help if some one can e-mail or post a picture of the actual factory installed unit so I can see what the original fitting looks like. Also if some one can assist on the best place to source this fitting, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bill for the prompt response, as always.

The main issue I currently have, is the brass fitting at the supply side of the water pressure tank. Some one has just taken a 90 degree brass fitting, drilled two holes on the sides and tapped the brass fitting in order to attach the water pressure gauge and the water pressure switch. As you can imagine, the thickness on the side of this fitting only allows for two or three turns to be tapped which have now stripped.

I do have a marked up picture of the existing that I have e-mailed to Amel. I had also downloaded the picture you had posted from your Super Maramu and have sent both to Amel. I will post these pictures for reference.

If some one has an unmodified Amel 54 fitting and schematic diagram, it would definitely help

Yes, it looks modified, but I cannot tell for sure because I have the AMFA 66B, which is different from what you have.

Hopefully someone else has your model.

You have a pipe “elbow” that for some strange reason was drilled and tapped to turn it into a pipe cross.  As you discovered, this is not a good idea. 

You need a real standard pipe “cross” and a reducing bushing or two to fit the pressure gauge, pressure switch, and tubing fitting.  It could also be done with two tees if a cross is hard to find. Two “tees” might also give you some flexibility in orientation that will make things easy to assemble.

This isn’t something you need to go to Amel for.  Brass or PVC would be suitable choices for material and your corner hardware store will likely have the parts.
