[Amel Yacht Owners] Hauling boat in the SW Carribean

Hi Pat,

We just just spent a couple of months in Panama, and have now moved on to Hawaii. The marina at Shelter Bay near the canal entrance on the Caribbean side has a good secure long term storage yard. I would not hesitate to leave my boat there short term, but for 6 months expect big mildew problems inside and out due to the extremely wet climate in that area. Another reasonable option is the marina at Linton Bay which is about 30 miles south of Shelter Bay. They also have a yard with a large travel lift, but not as good security there. You will have the same wet climate issues, but Linton Bay will be a bit cheaper. My choice would be Shelter Bay, as it is better run, and has a fenced yard with great security.

Is there a safe place to leave a boat for six months in the Columbia or Panama area ? I don't recall reading about anyone hauling their boat in this area. I believe this area would be out of the hurricane zone. Any reasons not to consider this?

Thanks,

Pat
