Jean-Pierre's MacBook Air <jgermain@...>
Hi Mark,
On my boat, the function is labeled AUTO or Manual.
In MANUAL, the pump operates full time. In AUTO, the level switch activates the pump and empties the “sewer” until the level reaches a predetermined position.
Good luck,
Jean-Pierre Germain, SY Eleuthera, SM 007, Tahiti.

I tried searching for this, but couldn’t find the answer. My wife and I just returned to our boat and today I noticed that the bilge is running non-stop. I went to the engine room and noticed that the bilge switch appears to be turned on, but am unsure if I turn it to the lower position if I am turning off the auto-bilge or not. When I turn the switch off, obviously the bilge ceases to run, but not sure if it will kick in if water builds up again. Question is if turned to the botttom position, does that turn off the bilge pump including automatic?
THanks,
Mark

Jean-Pierre,
Thanks. Is manual in the up position? As my switch is not labeled that I can see anyway.

Hi Mark,
Let’s start at the beginning.
Is the switch located in the cabinet containing the autopilot above the galley sinks?
Also, please include the boat name, type and hull number.
Cheers,

OK. If the switch is down, the pump should not run as the float ball/switch is at the bottom of the travel.
The pump starts when the float ball/switch reaches the top of its stroke.
Also, on the left side in the cabinet above the galley, you will find the Manual/AUTO switch referred to in my original reply.
Cheers,

Jean-Pierre,
Thanks! You and I both have older SM’s and the only manual I could find is for SM2000 which does not help much with the earlier ones!
