[Amel Yacht Owners] Forum decorum

Craig,

I know that you do not like me, probably because I am an opinionated old-fart. And, I did not realize that you spoke for the owner of the group, or all members of this group. Had I known that I would have copied you in my direct emails to the owner of this group.

The next time that you chose to scold me publicly, I would appreciate it if you take that private instead. You can email me direct at bill"at"amelschool.com

In the meantime, I will consider your suggestion, and, BTW, as one old fart to another, nobody I know uses SSB for social media or forum downloads.

Dear Bill,

While we all love you, really appreciate your contributions and are so glad you didn’t “go dark” after selling your SM "Bebe", I’ve gotta say that 90 word salutation of yours is a bit over the top. It smacks of commercialism with the link to your business and the legalistic “don’t-sue-me” disclaimer, it sucks up bandwith for SSB downloads, overflows cell phone displays, and, while we’re all proud of our volunteer activities and honors, most don’t feel a need to broadcast them with rank, honorary title and all.

Hi Bill,

Actually I have nothing but the utmost respect for your extensive experiential knowledge.
I certainly don't speak for the group owner - don't even know who it is.
I did think you might take the hint from the other Bill last week about commercial usage.
I used to get forum email on ssb and I've got a small phone screen, but not a biggie.
Btw, do you have a non-business email to which to send a pm?

Cheers, Craig SN68

Respected members.

I also think it is better to discuss other things here. This could have been done privately.
As for the signature, it does not represent an advertising per se and I have not seen an offer of professional services in the body of the message.

Good to see the air cleared and everyone staying friends.
When I first saw Bill’s sign off I did wonder - how come Texas has a navy???
I Googled it and found the answer. Never been to Texas, but one hell of a lot of pride came after the Alamo.
Let’s all keep our flags flying

Agree...we have a common interest .... I'm sure nobody wants to be enemies for whatever reason...we can all agree to disagree on some things, but the value of everyone's contributions to this forum are immeasurable.
In the last 5 years I have learnt an enormous amount that helps me keep Elyse running day to day, and for that I am grateful.
Let's keep it up..
And....thanks Admiral for your continued and valued contributions from your huge experience, I certainly appreciate it.
And ... thanks Craig for all your inputs....I usually know when I see sangaris at the end of a post it should be worth reading.
