Dessslator HP hoses

Alan Grayson

Hi All, im about to order new HP hoses from the dessalator rep in the US. The end fittings are reusable and so you only need to buy the hose unless like me one of your ends are damaged.
There are 2 options for this.
1: buy the hose from France and any ends that you need. Hose $40 fittings $93.00 each, shipping $70
2: buy new hose and ends from the US. the hose is different and the fittings are slightly different with the same threaded ends. They are not interchangeable. Cost of 2 new hoses $472.00
I'm buying the hose and 1 end fitting from France.
If anyone else wants to buy either hoses or fittings from France and add to my order please let me know by Thurs 25th by noon eastern time. The order will be shipping to me in Annapolis and i'll forward from here if you pay shipping to your destination.

Hello Alan,

You can get great quality hoses from an hydraulic shop which services the dairy industry with food grade components.

I went that route and never had a problem with My Dessalator.

Alan,

FYI, I bought 2 high pressure hydraulic hoses 6' long with stainless steel 3/8" JIC Flare end fittings crimped on both ends of the hoses for about $200.

Don't forget about your Yacht School Discount at Dessalator.

Alan,

You can go to any hydraulic shop—they can make you up the hoses for  you.

They are usually rated at 4000 psi and have swaged on fittings. Probably for 50-60 dollars.

If I remember correctly the fittings are called JIC fittings.

I have been using these type of hoses for my stove, the hydraulic brake hose as a spare, and my watermaker. They do have drinking water quality hoses on special order , however I use regular hoses and my TDS meter always reads around 200.

If you reuse fittings make sure the hose tech knows how to do it. I had hoses made in the US with the reusable fittings.  The hoses lasted about five hours before leaking internally bubbles under the sheathing and dribbling water.  Luckily I caught it before they blew.  Bought new hoses in Martinique.

Hi All,
I ran into same problem and the hose from high pressure pump came off before i could change my hoses.
Does anybody know how these terminals are caled? What kind of connector is that?
Since I learned here that the end fittings are reusable i will order the hoses in France.
Dessalator did not give a hint that I can reuse the fittings.

Yes, the Dessalator High pressure fittings are "3/8 inch JIC stainless steel fittings". JIC fittings are a type of flare fitting which is machined with a 37-degree flare seating surface.

Thanks, the info about high pressure fittings helped to locate the type. In the end I ordered from Dessalator bcs of time issues.
But the original fittings on my D100 duo are worst. The are 316 inside but come with brass screw on for the outer part. If some saltwater (very likly on a watermaker) enters from the backside into the fitting it works as electrolyte between 316ss and brass part and eats it up until the hose slips out. There are pure 316 ss fittings on the market...
Lets see what they send my now?

The JIC is a designation of the connection. It does not necessarily have to be reusable. Most are not. I will bet that a hydraulic shop can make you the hoses with stainless steel fittings permanently pressed on.

Eric,
Thank u very much for your help.
This time it was faster for us to order from Dessalator France.
1 day delivery time only.
We have been a bit in a hurry to get it working because we got visitors.
I think it might be better to get pure SS fittings. The originals are mix brass and SS and i ran in some electrolysis problems. Not sure if its the material mix or something else?

Oliver, you can get the JIC fittings at any good hydraulic shop.

Hi All,
I ran into same problem and the hose from high pressure pump came off before i could change my hoses.
Does anybody know how these terminals are caled? What kind of connector is that?
Since I learned here that the end fittings are reusable i will order the hoses in France.
Dessalator did not give a hint that I can reuse the fittings.

Alan.  Would you please provide the Dessalator US rep information? I was not aware they had one.  Thank you . Aldo
