Looks like Amel hit one out of the box.

I hear that
” Amel 50’s are selling out. I just sold one last month and it is not going to deliver until October 2021. Amel is requiring a €300,000 deposit to claim a production slot. The schedule for the next available Amel 50 production slot is September 2021. There are also two boats that will be available in June 2021 and November 2021 that will be used as demo/boat show displays which can be purchased at a slight discount.”

I love my Amel 50.
It is a great combination of modern and the Amel philosophy. It is a modern "real" Amel... I am glad that the company made the right decisions and is doing well. Theo s/v Paloma Amel 50 #18 |

I'll take your A55 but you'll have to loan me the money, in perpetuity! Actually, what I "need" is a post-1985 Maramu or a Santorin -- just in case you have one of those, too.

It is good to hear Amel chose the right way forward for evolving their yachts. Just saw the Yachting World Youtube about the Amel 60, it seems again a very well put together boat and I’m sure it will outsell the 64.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. So if people on this forum think Amel is going into the wrong direction with their designs, from their point of view they are right. The success of Amel is important to all of us, as it also enables them to provide after-sales service to their older boats. With the complexity of our boats this is very important. So I really hope the waiting-list for the 60 will be just als long as for the 50 and we can happily keep ordering spare parts! For me I’m really happy with the design of our trusty 54 and stil gets me more exited then the design of the 50. But I’m not a potential buyer for a new 50-60 foot yacht so even if Amel’s choices are not the one I would like to see, reality is they make better choices then I would in their place. Just my 2 cents.... Regards, Arno Luijten SV Luna, A54-121 |

Just thought I would chime in to Arno's comments about the Amel 54. To me it is the best of all possible designs - dated now I guess, but I cannot think of ANY other boat I would want. I really appreciate the quality and features on the new 50 and 60 (and the modern technology), but for me the 54 is the epitome of what Amel does right. I could go on and on but I truly like the layout and the ketch rig and am sorry to see it go. If the new boats keep the company going strong, go for it. I support that and welcome the newcomers. Maybe if I were 10 years younger...............
I suppose I am just adding my 2 cents here but I love my 54 and the Amel concepts. Jamie A54 Phantom |

Great news for the Amel yard. My 60H3 just went into the water last week. Super excited. Dealing with the Amel team has been a joy. I look forward to sharing my experience. Mark |

See if the AMEL50 TECHGROUP Facebook Page will let you join. The boats are similar in technology and construction. ~~~⛵️~~~Matt On Jan 16, 2020, at 8:09 AM, Mark Dajani via Groups.Io <mdajani@...> wrote:

Jamie,
I feel the same way about my Super Maramu 2000.. BUT...We visited La Rochelle in April last year and toured the factory, met the man that built our mast !, went for a sail with Antoine on the Amel 50, and I would have to say that the Amel spirit is still well alive. We also saw the very first 60 sitting in the water tank. The 50 is really Amel all over, however, they are obviously sensitive to the market as almost everything we have on our SM is optional on the 50... Like, bowthruster, genset, watermaker...even cockpit cushions... So if you look at the "list price" which is just under Eu 1 m, by the time you add all the stuff that we take for granted you're up to about Eu 1.5m Similarly with the 60...it gets to about Eu 2.5m BUT the boat is really good...construction, the same as always, water tight bulkheads as the SM, wonderful galley, very safe at sea, but the stbd sea berth of course has gone, but nice one up one down single berths just fwd of the saloon, maybe a good alternative. AND with the inside shrouds, she points really well.....which is something our 53 DOESN'T...and I miss that from our previous boat. If I had the money, which I don't, I'd order one in a minute,.... The 60, not so sure, in my opinion , it's just a bit TOO big, especially for someone like me that sails solo a lot of the time. Anyway, that's probably a bit more that 2 cents worth, as you guys say.
