Headliner Amel 54
Mohammad Shirloo
Hi everyone;
Since we are on the subject of the headliner issues on the older Amels, I’d like to address some issues we are having on our A54, hoping for a good solution from someone who has tackled it.
On Kokomo, we have certain areas, mainly in the corners and inside the cabinets in the master, that the headliner sags or the corners are peeling off. We can get it to reattach by sliding our hand on it and pushing it back up, but this will repeat, within a day or two. The amount of area of sag is not significant and mainly out of sight, so it has not been a priority. However, we would like to address it, before it becomes worse.
Anyone else had this issue? All suggestions, would be appreciated.
Happy Sailing;

Me too. I had understood that the problem was only with older boats, but obviously not the case. The thought of removing and re-doing these is very off-putting given the toxicity of the material.

Sorry to hear that you are having some vinyl adhesion problems on your 54. As I understand things, the toxicity is an issue with the older polyurethane foams used in the vinyl headliners so should not apply to the 54. Best, James SV Sueno Maramu #220

Hi. A PO left a spray can of vinyl adhesive on board. Whetever the odd corner has drooped it has been very efective. A quick squirt on the offending portion. Slap it up and it stays put. Regards Danny SM 299 Ocean Pearl On 29 February 2020 at 08:28 Paul Dowd and Sharon Brown <paul.dowd@...> wrote:

I tried the same. Spray adhesive from a home improvement store seems to work quite well.
And it isn't labeled "marine" so it's reasonably priced. :) -- Scott 2007 A54 #69 SV Tengah http://www.svtengah.com |
