Amel owners who did an engine replacement, please help!
We are replacing the old Volvo penta engine with the new Yanmar engine. we have problem - vibration. Did you have such a problem? Do you know how to do alignment of engine and saildrive?

The simple answer is that either the soft coupling rubber donuts were not replaced, or the engine/transmission output - The Vetus Coupling and the C-Drive are not aligned correctly. If you did not use a fixed coupling to align all of this, it was done wrong. Don't use it until all is aligned correctly.

Following the previous advise about proper alignment procedure and replacing the rubber "donuts" in the flexible coupling, I've had no vibration issues after repowering SM243 from a Volvo TMD23 to a Yanmar 4JH4HTE 110 HP. Good luck with it and let us know how you make out. Kent & Iris KRISTY

No problem. All of the old Yahoo messages, files, and photos can still be found here on the new forum. You just have to use the "search" function. Search Messages, Files, and Photos separately using keywords like "engine alignment" and you will find a ton of great information.

Does anybody know the thread size in the center of the top gearbox input shaft of the C drive on a super maramu 2000? The thread has damage and needs to be tapped again so we can press the coupling back on to the 35mm shaft.

Are you talking about the thread shown in the picture below?
