32mm 1 1/4" Bronze Ball Valves - USA

Mark Erdos

Hi all,

Does anyone have a source for a bronze 32mm / 1 ¼” ball valve with BSP threads in the USA?

Bronze ball valve fabricated with a high copper content, so that these bronze fittings function ideally in areas below the surface.

With best regards,

Mark

Mark,

I just replaced the ball valve in my forward head.  Believe it or not, but I got mine on Walmart.com.  Do a google search for "IBV-1250BSPP" which is Groco's part number for this valve and you will find several sources for it.  Defender will also special order it for you from Groco but it takes awhile.  They will do that for most of the manufacturer's they carry.

Consider using a valve that includes a grease zerk fitting for lubrication: GROCO Bronze Valve
IBV-1250 BSPP: https://www.groco.net/products/valves-seacocks/inline-valves/ibv-series-bspp-thread/ibv-1250-bspp

This bronze valve has 1-1/4" female BSPP threads which will require pipe thread sealant. More:

Thanks Mark! Having the part number really helps and now gives me better options.

I also just found BSP thread valves at http://www.absvalve.com/ in Ft. Lauderdale. They are the US distributor for Maetrini (good quality Italian made).

Good to know, Mark and Bill.

I just replaced the thru hull ball valve for the forward head.  It was a bear to remove, mostly because of poor access and it had an Octagonal place to put a wrench on it.  The flats were so small that I couldn't get a Crescent wrench to hold.  I ordered a 1 1/4 " 8-point socket, but it was too big. I then ordered a 1 1/8" 8-point socket from McMaster Carr. It came in 24 hours, and voila!  With a 10" extension and a bit of sweat, it came right off.  The new ones I ordered have a hex configuration, so normal 6-point socket works.
