Is this a standard addition?

Hi Bill and Eric,

We have another transducer in a normal thruhull in the location you mentioned as well which I suspect may be a depth unit,

I'm wondering if the one shown in the photo is a depth transducer mounted in contact with the hull rather than through the hull, (don't want to unscrew anything whilst in water)

I guess I'll have to wait until our next haul out or until the water temperature is well above its current 11 degrees to jump in a see from underneath

Thanks for your help

Amel installed my Raymarine speed transducer about 1 foot aft of the one in the photo.

Not sure, but that is generally the location of the Amel-installed forward-looking transducer.

I believe the vast majority of SMs of the age of SM 171 have had SOW transducers added because of the failures of the B&G Sonic Speed, however, if this is a SOW transducer, I believe it is a little too far forward.

Hello,
We were wondering if anyone knows what this setup is, is it usual in a SM?

It appears to have a Airmar transducer in it

Thanks for your help
