I was wondering how much use you have all had out of your Amels in the last year. It is difficult to get a global overview of the restrictions impact on cruisers. Noondite seems depressing. Fiji looks like a bright spot but otherwise my impression is things have been bleak. It would be good to hear any encouraging, positive experiences.

I spent the season sailing. First from Georgia to St Thomas. Then sailed the Spanish and USVI until May Then south to Grenada 🇬🇩. We have our Sharki in a marina in Malaysia. We haven’t been able to get back to her since covid struck. Either due to immigration restrictions or our own decision not to expose ourselves to covid until vaccinated. If we could get back to our boat we would be unable to leave the marina due to travel restrictions in Malaysia.

East coast USA is open. We're in Maine this Summer and only occasionally required to wear masks, almost exclusively in government-run facilities like museums. We hope to sail to Caribbean and thru the Canal this Winter, but waiting to see if regulations relax before we set sail. We got stuck in Antigua last Spring when no country would take us in the Caribbean. After two long weeks at anchor with restrictions on travel off the boat, and Islanders getting possessive about what little food was on the shelves, we sailed straight back to the Chesapeake.
Most countries that are open now want proof of vaccination AND many require quarantine and/or further testing on arrival. With restrictions like that, it will be very expensive and time consuming every time you enter another country. -- Kent & Iris KRISTY

We got stuck in French Polynesia before the borders closed and are LOVING it here. FP allows the boat to stay for 3 years before import tax is due and us as long as we like on a long stay visa.
The area has been relatively safe from covid except for the past few days now that the delta variant is here. We are seeing cases skyrocket. We got our Pfizer vaccines here in April for free and without issue. No doubt we are looking at restrictions in the upcoming weeks but we can live with them. They make it very easy to comply.

Living in London, we spent 6 weeks in the Aegean, (Greece, not Turkey ) last autumn; then June this year and we will spend Sept and Oct afloat as well. The limitation for us has been the 90 days in 180 that we are allowed in the EU, rather than covid.

Living on our super maramu has been a godsend the past 2 years of lockdowns here in Europe. We're not ever in a hurry though, so. Got my whole to do list done over last winter, been hanging around a tiny Greek island all summer, vaxxed and safe, swimming, sailing, diving. I feel awful for our friends in cities with this stuff going on.

When COVID hit in spring of 2020 we were in Ile de Saintes (Caribbean). We spent an idyllic two months.locked down there with a great small community of cruisers. Then with all of the southern islands locked down we sailed north to the USVI and joined the Salty Dawgs Homeward Bound flotilla back to US Chesapeake Bay for 2020 hurricane season haul out. In the fall of 2020 we joined the Salty Dawgs again for the southward journey, but decided to extend our stay in Bermuda to six weeks due to the safety of the island and several cruising friends there. Then we spent December and January in Antigua and Barbuda (almost nobody along the western low bay anchorages of Barbuda and plenty of places to get away from people around Antigua). Then we received permission to enter Martinique to get rigging replaced and other work by the Amel group there in February and first half of March. We then sailed north to St Croix USVI at the end of March to get our COVID shots and sail back to the Chesapeake Bay in early May. We moved slower and more thoughtfully due to the various regulations and risks. We enjoyed a small group of cruisers in each location where we stayed. We were able to have family members visit us in Antigua and St Croix, but some other friends were blocked by the restrictions. The COVID situation was very dynamic in the Caribbean islands so we had to keep our plans open and move when we could/should. Over all BeBe was a very good place to be last season. We will attempt to do a similar route again this season. Having Lady Annila on the hard just a few minutes drive from the appartment has resulted in a far more extended renovation of the boat during winter moths, summer we have been able to sail along the Algarve coast at least.
