AMFA bilge pump spare part

ianjenkins1946 <ianjudyjenkins@hotmail.com>

I have the original AMFA bilge pump.  For the second time in 21 years ( I make no complaint--would that everything lasted that long ) the plastic cogged wheel that connects the motor to the pump has broken.

I have emailed Reya, the French group that now owns A. M.F.A.  in the hope that they still carry spares.  My recollection from last time is that they sell you the motor attached to the wheel.

Not cheap, but a sound of great comfort when it works.

Has anyone recently had to get this spare part ?

Hi Ian,

Yes mine broke too,
I fixed it by remaking the missing teeth from a block of nylon. On passage, so I had the time.. Still works perfect.

More info here:

Maybe Impexron GmbH or OSLV in Italy can help you further.

About a year ago Maud had these.

Riza in Turkey at Emek Marin had the gear the last time I checked

Reya stopped making the Marina ZZ pump some time ago.

When Reya stopped production TF Pumps began making the exact pump, including the nylon gear...exact!

TF Pumps has been bought by Gianneschi Pumps

Gianneschi pumps and parts are easy to find in Europe.

Hello, there are BOSCH wiper motors for 24V that work perfect to replace the original motor and gear. Just look at ebay. Cost about 50 euros plus shipping in Europe.

Hi Ian,

I received one from Maud at Amel about 3 weeks ago. You might also consider getting the 2 flapper valves.

Fair Winds,

Eric

Hi Ian,
You can check my earlier posts from a few years ago about repairing the plastic wheel - I had to repair it twice in 20 years, last time maybe 10 years ago - still working fine!

Thanks, Jose ,

Can't beat the Italians for some of their engineering.

Many years ago  on a non-Amel boat when a Simpson Lawrence anchor winch ( good Scottish make ) seized a bearing on the fourth time of use someone told me to buy a Lofrans " because an Italian male will never be seen pulling up his anchor chain by hand ! "

I was delighted to see afterwards that Amel had the same appreciation of Italian marine hardware.
