Although my Feruno Navnet does not come up with the internal battery warning I want to change it. I suspect it is at least 8 years old and maybe original from 2006.
I would rather not ship the unit to a Feruno dealer, firstly they will charge an arm and a leg no doubt, plus all the shipping costs, but also as a matter of principal. I feel it is something one should be able to do oneself if at all possible.
I guess it is soldered in place probably on little legs directly onto a PC board, but I have no idea where it is located exactly and what is involved. Has anyone else done this DIY route?
If so would be interested to have a few pointers..
Kind regards

On the same subject, I know the battery is a CR2450 lithium 3 volt but not sure exactly the leg configuration to solder or the part number. I think it is 24mm diameter with three legs to solder but not sure.
Anyone know for sure?

The information I have is that the battery for the GP80, 90, & 150 is Furuno 001-428-240-00 which replaces 000-144-941. All I remember was it was easily found, finding the battery was much harder. I had to get it from a Furuno dealer who installed it for the price of the battery which was 80 €.😀😀 The Furuno price for this battery is 30 €.

There is one battery inside the CPU that is easily replaced. It is kept in place with some kind of polyurethane foam. It is model 2032 and inexpensive (less than $2). Just take off the metal cover and you eventually find it. See pics attached.
Hope this helps

From memory, it is the Furuno MPU-001 Navnet 3D Black Box Processor. It is located on SB, in a drawer under the first armchair

Thank you Bill and Roque my Navnet is the 2D not the 3D. I think I will have to wait until I get to the boat in early Sept and figure it out. I was hoping to buy the correct battery and take it with me… Best

Hello, I changed the battery on my Furuno GP 90. It is a lithium 2450. price 2 euro. But it is difficult to do because the battery is soldered inside the GPS. Removing the old one with a soldering iron is easy, but soldering a new battery without specific tools is very difficult. I just fixed it without soldering it. It's been 3 years and it's holding up. Hi Nick,
the battery for the MFDBB (Navent 3d Black Box) is a CR 3032 but you don't have to change it since it has no use
Here the feedback from Furono support:
That is a common button cell battery and is not really used in the Kontron processor. Most remove the battery and put the bios setting not to check for the battery.
I have one in spare but never changed it.
