Bowthruster Power and a Fuse/Disruptor
Alex Lomakin
Dear fellow Amelians,
Does anyone know power characteristics (kW or Amps) of Super Maramu 2000’s (2004 onwards) bowthruster and whether it has any fuse or disruptor, apart from the one on the 24V board. Please let me know. Thank you very much, Alex Alexander Lomakin SV Silver Star (SM 2000, #416) |

Alexander,
Jose Venegas of Ipanema SM2000 Hull #278 posted his bowthruster power consumption data here: https://amelyachtowners.groups.io/g/main/message/63102 The peak current draw was about 450A and the voltage at the time a little over 26V which makes the peak power draw ~11,700W. Amel did not fuse the large battery cables going to the bowthruster but several members have since installed fuses. Hi Mark,
Thank you very much for your prompt reply. After having read all the posts on the subject, I have decided on 500A fuse for my new lithium batteries bank. Keeping fingers crossed, it should suffice. Best regards, Alex |

Hi Alex,
I have a 500A main fuse for my lithium batteries (600AH). I never had a problem even with "to heavy" use of the bowthruster. regards, Eloi SM2K 426 RedLion |
