Santorin and Super Amel Maramu Important information - Genoa Furler

Santorin & Super Maramu owners.

Amel SM Genoa Repair and Replacement Parts:
The Second generation of the Amel Electric Genoa Furlers used on various Amel Santorins and Super Maramus were manufactured for Amel by a machine shop owned by Pierangelo Vignando. Mr. Vignando has about 8 rebuild kits left in stock. These kits include gears, bearings, and a new 24v electric motor. These kits are 2500 Swiss Francs via bank transfer plus shipping and any Customs or VAT. I negotiated this price with Mr. Vignando for Amel owners. After I negotiated the price, I also negotiated that he pay the Amel Yacht Owners Group (this group) a commission The commission will be used for group internet expenses. Mr. Vigando is very difficult to deal with, and the delay from the time you send money until the time he ships is too long in my opinion. However, he is the only person in the world that has all of the parts that you need for a complete rebuild. Almost all of these boats are 20+ years old. Everyone will need this rebuild sooner or later.

8 SM owners have already purchased and received these kits.

My advice is to buy one of these kits. If at some point you need it, you will be very happy that you did not have to spend 10,000 € for a ProFurl or Faknor Furler. If you never need it, you will certainly be able to sell it to another owner for what you paid for it. Click here to download a view of the kit and instructions for ordering. When these are gone, they are gone!

This is the generation furler that I am referring to. If the white body looks like this, he has the rebuild kit. There were 2 or 3 versions of the gray hub on top of the white part...disregard any differences. To be sure, I would send a photo of your furler along with your RFQ to Mr. Vignando.

Craig,

I do not know. Email him at the address in the document. Use Google Translate to write the email in French. Include a photo of your gearbox.

The 24v motor was made by Iskra...see following. I assume that the 12v motor was exactly the same footprint and was made by Iskra. Maybe the windlass motor will work, but I think you will need some modification,

Thanks, Bill. The motor is actually by Bosch but the Model/Serial is illegible. No problem, it is still humming along.

Craig,

For clarity, does your furler look like this early model or does it look like the later model?
