Alteration of Batteries Compartment for Transporter Energy Lithium Batteries on SM2000
Alex Lomakin
Dear all,
Once again thank you very much for a very useful info and proposed solutions. As I intend to increase my bank to 12 batteries, I would cut a “centre-line” in the bank’s “carpet” to find the screws, etc. Sincerely, Alex |

Hi Alex
I've just done this and its very easy. On the top of the lid is that carpeted material.. if you work out precisely where the middle of the slat lies, just cut a straight line in the carpet the length of the slat. Underneath you sill find about four screws.. remove the screws and the slat comes straight off. Hope this helps - Woody |

On our boat, once we found the screws (Exactly as Bill R. describes), it came off without a problem.

Hello Alex,
I had the same problem when i changed for Victron lithium batteries. I did not want to alter the battery locker, so i put the batteries in the other side. 8 batteries could be installed (instead of the 12 lead acid) Regards Dominique |

Screws and double-face tape for sure and possibly some glue. You have to remove the carpet on the top of the lid to access the screws. Dear all,
I have recently upgraded my domestic bank to Transporter Energy Lithium batteries, aka Dragonfly Batteries in the US. The TE batteries have fitted inside the standard compartment very well except for the height. The new batteries are about 2.5 cm (1 inch) higher. So to be able to close the compartment properly I need to alter the vertical bracing beam, marked on a picture with a crude red arrow (please see the attached picture), which is not an easy task, while the beam is attached to the bottom part of the bank. Hence, I need to remove it first. Does anyone know how this beam is attached to the bank: is it just glued or glued and also screwed on? Thank you very much, Alex Alexander Lomakin SV Silver Star, #416 |
