Problem with my dipstick!

Nothing to do with my advancing years!

Santorin owners; does anyone else have problems with their fuel dipstick readings. I have never been able to fill my fuel tank to a reading of 400 litres. It’s always around 370.  I’ve carefully measured the distance down the filler tube to the level of the fuel and it does seem to correlate to the top of the tank ( which in the Santorin is in the corridor - only the side of it is in the engine room). I don’t want to shorten the dipstick otherwise it won’t be retrievable near the filler cap. I think it is the original dipstick as it only measures up to 400 litres. Maybe I just have to believe I’ve got a 30 litre ‘reserve’ if I ever get near empty.

You might have 30L of muck in the bottom?

My boat was an early SM (007) and capacity was 570 vs 600 for SM2K.

Ensure you reduce the flow once you hear a bit of change in noise when fuelling. While watching the overflow vent.

Good luck
