Fresh Water Accumulator -2004 Super Maramu
My fresh water accumulator is beginning to show signs of a deteriorating internal bladder, ie the electric pump is beginning to cycle on and off in short bursts.
I cannot see any makers name on the very nice stainless steel unit. Would be obliged to know any info on the maker as well as any experiences on overhaul. I am familiar, in principle, with the workings of these units. Can a damaged bladder be repaired , in extremis? Thanks George on COCO, nr 434, Greece |

Good luck in finding spare parts to change the membrane in your freshwater reservoir. I could not find anything compatible to mine so I found at very reasonable price a new painted reservoir which could be easily modified to fit my system. No so good looking but same service. I’m assuming you’ve reinflated the bladder and it isn’t holding the pressure. Mine went 9 years ago. I just replaced it with an of the shelf large accumulator tank. It does the job perfectly. Ian Ocean Hobo |

Hi George,
There are four places where air could escape from the accumulator tank:
You can utilize a foamy solution to try to find the leak. If you see air escaping from the round front plate, you can try tightening the bolts. As the rubber squashes and dries with time and can allow air to escape. The air intake valve in the back (tire inflation type) can also be tightened or a sealant added to the threads. A hole in the tank may be able to be fixed with an epoxy glue, such as JB weld or similar. The solution to #1 is replacement. We found the bladders in Greece a few years ago, I believe in Mytilene marina chandlery, Lesvos Greece. His name is Stratos +30-693-9906099 cell, and +30-2251-400460. Since you are in Greece, shipping would simple.
Also make sure that you are getting to the correct pressure before the pump starts and stops to eliminate the possibility of an issue with the setting on the off/on pressure settings.
