SM2 decks redo
We had Permateak decking that looked just like Kristy’s on our Santorin Liesse which was installed by the previous owner in 2013 and basically looked as good as new when we sold her last month.

Very good non skid properties, looked awesome, not sure about it’s insulative properties having known nothing else. The decking can get quite hot during a Turkish summer, again not sure how would Also not sure how much the decking adds to the weight of the boat but would certainly consider it again on our SM Zia if not cost prohibitive. Hi Kent...impressive pics
What is that product? where did you get it? When you say expensive, roughly how much was it? Thanks for the advice Cheers Alan Elyse SM437 |

Hi Kevin, it may be a personal thing but I have seen two SM that have painted their decks with white or off white non skid and I thought it ugly. i would repaint the stripes after the over all paint. This would require a light (Abrasive, not colour) non skid or it would not be practical.

Mine was in bad shape, too. Last year I had a PVC decking installed over the old deck after fairing over the indented stripes. I love the look and the non-skid. It actually insulates enough to make the cabins 5-10 °F cooler on hot sunny days. It's easy to clean and can be repaired if needed. It was an expensive project, but I think totally worth it. -- Kent & Iris KRISTY

Good day, 6 years in, we do like the traditional deck but are considering a kiwi grip finish for 2 reasons: 2+: easy to apply. we are curious if anyone has done the same or considering an alternative. we love our Amel and are very concerned that we do the right thing. thoughts? |
