Hull scratch repair
Yes it can be repaired, you just need to find the right person. I was in Cartagena Columbia and the boat next to me had some minor scratches. I watched the guy that was hired do every step including careful color matching. Afterward you could not see the repair. I immediately hired him to touch up a number of small chips and cracks. And four years later you can find no sign of repairs. Good luck finding the guy. If you can watch him or her do some work on another boat before hiring that might be the best. From your description, this damage should be repaired before extensive sailing. The key is to find a technician with experience who can show you work done on other boats. Amel gelcoat is much thicker than on most other boats but each boat has a specific original gelcoat colour plus the fact that colour changes over time. To be good looking, if you repair only the damaged part, colour match is the tricky part. If you choose to take this opportunity to do a new paint, colour is no longer an issue but the same care applies to choose a technician with proven experience. Good luck! Louis A54 2008

It does not look too bad but I had the same problem and suffered some damage to the laminate. You will have to take off all gel coat to examine. If it is damaged it will be “fussy” as you penetrate the laminate. If it is undamaged it will be quite solid. Be sure to look for unusual cracks on inside of the hull.
