A54 Dishwasher replacement

Mohammad Shirloo

Thank you Arno. Our plan is to change start of next season. I may pull on your experience again, once I have the unit delivered and have the existing removed.

Hi Mohammad,

Klarstein is one of the trading companies that use this big factory somewhere in the world to have the appliance made. I’ve seen it under at least 8 different brands. Klarstein does have the most permutations of the same model though. I chose the black because it suits the boat better then the silver. Klarstein has presence in several countries as they mostly do stuff online.
For fitting there is little you need to do. First remove the drawer by releasing the strap in the back. Next you can remove the two bolts that hold the board that supports the dishwasher together with the dishwasher, it may be a bit stiff to remove. I had to make small modifications to the wooden strips that fixate the dishwasher on the board. The one in the front I moved to the rear. Also I put some additional small rubber feet under the dishwasher to raise is about 5mm so it stays free from the nuts that keep the board fixed. But all small things. The basic dimensions are the same. Compared to the old old one the door is hinged differently, this is why I moved the front strip to  the back. I found the performance slightly better although the rack inside a bit less sturdy. They are not interchangeable though.

Dear Mohammad,
No, no adjustments have been necessary.
Remove the entire equipment including the drawer below the dishwaher. So you tear the old one out and put the new one in.
Good luck. Fair winds and seas.

We replaced ours with a Candy CDCP 6/E

https://www.tradeinn.com/techinn/en/candy-cdcp-6-dishwasher-6-cutlery/138353584/p

Great little dishwasher that we use at least once daily for the last 4+ years. Uses about 6-7 liters for a 60 degree wash (not the lowest energy one) and easily runs on our inverter/lithium setup.

Mohammad, I looked at Klarstein, Candy, and Teka user manuals and it looks like they are made by one company. Sizes are identical. Pictures and instructions inside are the same.

Dear Mahammad and Aty,

I have replaced it end 2021 with TEKA Dishwasher LP2 140 White for 452,23 € + 23% Portuguese VAT + shipping cost.

Very happy, much less noisy, more economic and eco-friendly.

See pic.

Another experience: I have a inox tub of about 3-4 cm height installed below the dishwasher, with a direct tube connection into the bilge. Very useful, I run my dishwasher also on anchor when ship moves, without any water leaks below.

Good luck with the replacement.

Hi Mohammad and Aty,

My Dometic dishwasher couldn’t stop washing cycle, was trying to pump out water non stop. While dismantling it ( not so easy job ) I decided not to fix Dometic and to replace it with this one https://www.klarstein.nl/Huishoudelijke-Apparaten/Vaatwasser/Amazonia-6-Vaatwasser-1380W-6-couverts-Druktoetskraan-Zilver.html

Works well for almost two years now and couple of years ago I bought exactly the same looking, same functions dishwasher under brand BOSCH for apartment. That one also works well for 6 years now.

Best Regards,

Vladan

Our Dometic dishwasher turned off in the middle of a wash cycle. All the lights went out and resetting the breaker had no effect. It was at the end of the season and we did not spend much time debugging the unit. Has anyone run into this? Any solutions and replacement unit recommendations would be appreciated. The unit is 14 years old and has had frequent usage 6 months every year.

Typically what happens with these things is the circulation pump starts leaking and after a while iy shorts out. Also the heating element can short out when it gets old.

Go to www.klarstein.de to see a abundance of models you can choose from. Be careful with the sizes, some of them are a bit bigger and you need all the space you have anyway, also the ones with a handle may interfere with the cupboard door left of the machine. I got this one (https://www.klarstein.de/?cl=details&cnid=5af088ca11e6a728bd65356d5066ff73&anid=605a15e3fcf13ddad516e059727a3def&varselid%5B0%5D=6f1979fb2d97601ca6f4dc09587dc9af) two months ago and very happy with it. It has this party trick where it opens the door itself after the cycle to let out the moisture. A bit scary at first but you get used to it.
Fitting the watersupply is a bit of a wiggle as there is this hose breakage protection unit fitted on the new hose. Also be aware the shut off valve under the sink is likely to leak when shutting it off due to lack of usage.
