Head Question SM
Adding this to the thread. The SM 2000 Red Line has a finished mahogany wall covering this area. If you are careful you can remove the trim from the existing wall and replace the existing wall with marine-grade mahogany veneered plywood. I believe that nobody would argue with this method.

Previous owners had removed the Amel tank by cutting it out, and placed a wood/fiberglass tank in it's place. I updated in 2019 with a new 15 gallon molded plastic one. To cover the hole, they placed a solid panel over it. Thanks, Dan Feierabend SM#86

On Nunky which is hull number 110, the former owner installed a black water tank in the locker which is on the deck on the starboard side. It is 90l I think. It is tucked away under the deck to the aft of that locker. The locker can still be used. We only have jerry cans in there.
The waste pipe exits the heads compartment through the bulkhead at the top of that area. The waste is then pumped from the bottom of the tank by a button operated macerator pump through the existing seacock. The seacock, which is composite, is closed after every elimination. It has worked flawlessly for the 3 years we have had Nunky. I am not at the boat at the moment so I can't provide photos. I think it is a great solution. Bill,
In both heads on Harmonie that panel you have marked is actually TWO panels split vertically. In the aft head an after-market holding tank had been added for more capacity. I have disassembled that panel and it posed no unusual problems. The forward head panel would be more of a project to remove. It is tabbed to some of the shelves, and that would need to be cut. Both look to have been made that way at the factory, although there were modifcations to the aft head compartment to accommodate the larger holding tank. Hello Jéremy,
I'm Henrique, from SM #127, JuJu. We just bought JuJu last December. Very happy with the boat! I'm going to instal a black water thank, 40l, and have also to remove the panel and the safe. Very helpful your info. How was to disconnect the top of the panel, did you have to cut also? Did anybody else installed a black water tank? Were did you put the vent? Did you put the deck drain? Any other solution? Kind regards Henrique Gonzalez SM #127 |

Hi Bill, I remove the same panel in the aft head, to remove the safe for
which I did not have the key (lost by the former owner). It was
extremely difficult. Not intended to be disassembled. I'm glad I removed the safe to save space and weight, but it was really a lot of work. Sorry, I didn't take pictures, as I thought it was an easy job at first.
