Double poles

Joerg Esdorn

I have decided to get a second pole for my A55.  Amel never offered double poles for the 55 but did for the 54.  I would be very interested in seeing some pictures of how the poles were mounted on a 54 and how they were stored - up mast like for the single pole?   Many thanks in advance.

they are stored on the forward deck with the pole locking into its holder aftward and attaching to the pulpit at the bow.

I had 2 poles on my previous boat around the world . As a summary I used them both once only after 15000 m I decided to sell one pole in Fiji as I was no more using it . However My second pole was in carbon and that was amazing

Hello Joerg,
I have a Forespar Alu Telesopboom  FS405201  UTS/UTR  89mm/102 mm   4,62 -8,23 m long  fixed at the mastfood with a  Forespar Toggle FS333010 .
I had to toggles on each side of the mast and found a man who made two extra toggles in a machine shop fixed at the shrouds at each side for the resting position of the pole and 2 rings near the bow attached to the reling . Costs for all approx. 3.000 €.
I decided to have the telescope pole, because the original is too long to stow away and you may use the pole also for the Trinquette.
I will be in La Rochelle end of march for detailed photos .
Greetings , Wolfgang  Weber SY Elise Amel 54 #162

Super Wolfgang.  This looks like a great setup.  A few questions:

1.  Where do you stow the Forespar pole when not in use?
2.  Your colored sail (call it a "balooner"?), is that in the second grove of the genoa foil or on a separate furler?   My thinking is to put that sail on my Facnor 4500 Code Zero furler so I can furl it whenever a gust comes through.  What is your experience with your set up?
3.  How big is you balooner?

Thanks much for posting these pictures.  I'm in the middle of discussions with a sailmaker/rigger for exactly this.  Cheers Joerg

Sorry, Wolfgang, you've given me a picture on #1, thank you.
