Magnet for Auto Anchor rode counter
If you have the original Amel Chain Counter, it is NOT a magnet.

I have lost the magnet that attaches to the capstan wheel and am wondering, is it necessary to get the manufacturer's magnet or will any magnet suffice?

Thanks for responding Bill. It is an Auto Anchor AA 150 model, so not original. The magnet was on the rope side of the capstan as per your photo and the set up is more or less the same with a few mods. I am currently working on replacing the sensor and associated cable. Will let you know how I get on.
