Air Height AMEL 54
CAn anyone kindly tell me the height of top of Amle 54 mast to sea water level - in other words ‘bridge clearance height?

hi Peter, mast height is 21.34 meters. I think somewhere I saw the same number but with word "air draft". But to be on a cautious side I would add ~2m of water to mast base hight.

Hmmm - thank you. The lowest bridge on Stockholm Gothenburg canal is 22 m - that’s a challenge! Do I dare. Peter Forbes On Fri, 25 Nov 2022 at 16:12, CW Bill Rouse <brouse@...> wrote:

Remember normally a bridge clearance will be at highest astronomical tide. Not sure how much tide there is if any in the Baltic but if it’s 22m and you have 21.3 you should be fine. Nick Amelia AML54-019 Leros Gr On 25 Nov 2022, at 16:12, CW Bill Rouse <brouse@...> wrote:

Just had a look at the tides…. not much joy the range is very little about 20cm between high and Low water. Maybe HAT is more like 25cm…. If I were you, I would go up the mast and drop a tape measure to the deck and then measure to the water and get a spot on air height. If with antennas included you are under 22m you are good to go. It will be a heart stopping moment though….. You could also talk to the harbour master Gottenberg and double check…

Lastly the salinity in the Baltic is very low so the boat will sit a bit deeper, make sure you have full tanks etc... Nick Amelia AML 54-019 Leros

recently there was a request here regarding the bridge heights in the Göta Canal. Almost all bridges are opened. However, the fixed road bridge of the E 22 at Motola has a clearance of only 22 m. With my Sharki that was no problem. With an A 54 it might be difficult. By the way, the maximum permissible draught is 2.82 m. I was on board today and measured mast top to foot and water level below: Results: Antenna VHF - 0.66m = 2.11 ft Mast - 18.6m = 61.02 ft Base of mast to water level - 1.85m = 6.07 ft. TOTALS = 21.11m + 69.2 ft The bridge on the Swedish Canal I must pass under is 22m - NO PROBLEM - go for it. Custom made yacht for this canal system. I’ll keep you informed of results next June when I pass under. Peter Peter Forbes AMEL 54 #035 CARANGO Lymington UK 07836 209730 On 25 Nov 2022, at 17:44, David Dickman <jdd91656@...> wrote:

Forgot that tanks were filled with 625l diesel and 225l Water is I’ll surely fill up before the bridge.
