Amelia 54 opening port holes

Nick Newington

Amelia is back ashore in Leros for the winter. We had very heavy rain for a day or so on the hard and developed a very small drip from one of the saloon opening port holes. I tried some silicon grease on the seal, but decided to tape it up for the winter. Por su caso.

I guess they are Lewmar brand but I could not see. Anyone been down this route of buying replacement seals? If so I think it prudent to purchase a length that I can cut to fit, and have on board. Anyone have some knowledge of what to buy?

Kind regards

Nick Newington (back in the UK)

HI Vladan,

Thanks, so they are Goiot….I really want to buy a long length of seal from a company that sells seals to wider industrial market rather than buy kits for each and every port light.

Kind regards

Nick

Vladan,

I take it back, SVB sell the gasket material for 5 euros a meter. Sound like a reasonable price….. I just need to check exactly which seal size…

Thanks

Nick

Further to Vladan’s email saying that the port lights are Goiot. I have been on their website and I think that the model is the Goiot Crystal 43.18R in which case it is an 8mm round rubber seal for sale at SVB for 2.48 euros a metre. Which seams very reasonable.

Can anyone confirm the model?

Kind regards

Nick

7 pieces 115763 Acrylic panel (grey) for 43.18R

101715 Glueing Kit for both 33.13R and 43.18R sufficient for all 11 portholes.
95663 Seal sufficient for all 11 portholes
10597 Glue for seal, sufficient for all 11 portholes

Thanks everyone;

All I need is 8mm round neoprene sponge. I can source from seals direct  UK for £2 per meter. Just cut to length and superglue to make a continuous length.

There are many options for glueing into the groove, but contact adhesive works.

Kind regards

Nick Newington
