Cook top dimensions
Bryce Procter
Hi all,
Can anyone give me the dimensions of the gas cooktop on the SM 2000 as per the pic. Looking to retrofit an induction cooktop which is 574mm square and hoping it will sit on the existing s/s ledge. Thanks in advance. Bryce Seamaster II # 467

Many thanks Elja, 590 should work perfectly.
I am currently locked down away from my boat.
Yes, I am also converting my oven to electric.
My idea is to insert 2 small ovens into the current oven space inside the existing stainless steel gimballed frame. If you like I can send you a photo in the next day or two of how the two ovens look together along with dimensions. Each oven draws a maximum of 2400W.
Regards
Bryce

Yes, I'd like to have pictures.
For the oven I think we'll take a company-shaped oven from the household area that should fit well in there Hot air consumes least energy Von meinem iPhone gesendet

Hello, Why don' t you install electric heating elements in the existing oven? You may even install them additional beside the gas heaters. So you can use both. Oliver from Vela Nautica A54#39 Martinique

I suggest that you look at probably the best stoves available at GN Espace https://www.gn-espace.com/ Be sure to look at their storage and cooking containers which are simply genius. They just introduced the OceanChef 3 Induction Stove, which is a 53.5 cm wide (gimbal tip to gimbal tip) - 3 zone induction cooktop/electric oven and grill for monohulls. Both of their OceanChef 3 and 4 burner LPG cookers and the new OceanChef 3 Induction/electric cooker, are all direct replacements for the ENO/Force 10 stoves. I believe that there is not a better product for Amels than all of the products made by this company. If this interests you, I have negotiated a discount for my clients. For more information on the discount write to me at Bill@...

Hi all, I suggest to make double sure about the measurement we are referring to. On my SM, 590 mm is the space available for fitting the entire oven set. The gimballing steel frame outer width is 570 mm and, given a 3mm steel plate thickness, the inside clearance is 570-6 equal 564 mm. If the idea of Bryce is to place the new set on top of the existing frame, the width shouldn't be a problem. If the set is a square, the trouble is with the depth as te current ss frame is only 550mm and then, leaving some clearance for safeguarding your fingers, you run into the crash bar. This at least on my boat Hope this helps Best Paolo Cuneo SM 454 Whisper, currently in Sardinia

Paolo,
as you can see from my photo above the 2 flame Silvercrest inductive cooker from Lidl fits perfect. The space is 590 and the device is 580 mm. So no problem at all. -- Gerhard Mueller Amel Sharki #60 Currently Kalamata, Greece

Hi Paolo,
Point taken. Yes depth appears it would be a problem. Thanks for the tip.
I will follow up with Bills suggestion re the option from the UK.
Cheers

Hey, Paolo.
please what are the mass of the microwave compartment , there are microwaves with seperate home-air levels then you would have a hot air / microwaves/ grill downstairs the induction field and the reserve of the gas oven Greetings to Elja SM Balu 222 Kalamata Von meinem iPhone gesendet

Responding to Gerhard, yours seems a brilliant solution but from the photo I cannot understand if the system is gimballing or you are using it only in the fixed position Paolo Cuneo SM454 Whisper

Hello Elja, I did not convert my gas oven to electric because I am happy with my gas oven. But its not a big deal to convert it. It will probably cost about 200 euros max. You only need a heating element, a thermostat and a switch, and any electrician who understands his profession could do it. Look at the link about changing the heating element its a cheap job. These appliances heating elements are everywhere available. Hope that helps. Oliver from Vela Nautica A54#39 Martinique

Hi Paolo,
Thanks and apologies for the slow reply. The cooktop I am looking at is the Miele KM 7200 FR with dimensions of 574mm W, 504mm D and 48mm H.
Looks like this should fit well. Not cheap but quality is remembered long after price is forgotten. If I ever get back to my boat I'll post some photos :)
Cheers
