VICTOR MOLERO
Hello all. I need to replace the Goiot friction set in the hinges of the aft cabin hatch (Super Maramu 2000). SVB has them available for the following models... - 44.31
- 42.42
- 43.43
- 44.44
- 49.36
...but I can't find anywhere on the hatch what model it is. Does anyone have this information? Thanks in advance. Victor SM314 Alendoy

I am not 100% sure, but I think none of the above. I think it may be a Tradition 50. The following snippet is from the brochure for Tradition Hatches Catalog which you can download here: | CW Bill Rouse Amel Owners Yacht School | | | 720 Winnie, Galveston Island, Texas 77550

Hi Victor,
That hatch is a Crystal 49.36 and here’s the correct part:
The links is correct, but the photo shown above is wrong.

Tilo,
Is the Crystal Range throughout your SM, or is there a combination of the Crystal & Tradition series?
I had possibly wrongly understood the SM had the Tradition series throughout. | CW Bill Rouse Amel Owners Yacht School | | | 720 Winnie, Galveston Island, Texas 77550

Hi Bill,
Only that hatch is a Crystal, all the others are tradition. It looks almost the same. I think someone previously had put the Tradition friction kit into ours, and it was a total disaster.
Best,
Tilo

Thank you very much, Tilo. The thing is that the measures of the hatch are different. Mine is 55x42. I guess (but only guess) that the friction axels may be the same, but so far neither SVB nor Goiot have been able to provide the measures of the friction axels that I need. My estimate is that they should be 16mm diameter and 45mm long. But I need to confirm these. Víctor

Thanks Tilo. I updated my info.

Greetings!
Yesterday I replaced the broken / decayed plastic pieces with a spare part set from svb.
https://www.svb24.com/en/goiot-friction-set-cristal-hatch-pair.html For a complete repair one needs four of the plastic pieces, i.e. two sets. I had only ordered one set. I measured the plastic pieces dimensions as: - outer diameter: 16mm - inner diameter: 6.2mm - length: 43mm I mounted the GOIOT spare parts on the outer hinges and used a 1/4" inner diameter fuel hose with approximately 16mm outer diameter on the inner hinges. Make sure to mount the bolts such that the head (Allen) points inside the hinge tube of the window part. When you have the window in the open position one can see a slot where to insert the Allen key. Use a 10mm socket with wrench on the outer side to loosen the bolt.
I have to say that I do NOT like this design. I think with a punch tool and a hammer / rubber mullet one can drive these friction inserts out and break into the boat.
It is also dangerous that when the friction plastic parts have decayed that in heavy weather with occasional breaking waves the bolts can work themselves out and you might loose the hatch cover.
So when you see black plastic crumbles under the hatch I highly recommend to perform the repair. It might even have to get on the regular check / maintenance list.

I forgot to mention that the length of the plastic parts is not really critical. I would not go shorter than 42mm. -- Michael & Robyn
