Goiot hatch seals

Time to replace the portlight and hatch seals on Minerva, Maramu #135. I looked in the wiki-how on this site, but the attachment with Bill Rouse’s response to a similar question was deleted. Does anyone have a source? Getting kind of weepy over my stove.

I think you might have the Tradition Series. Start by downloading the following:

Hi Lance,

If they are tradition portlights, the seal is 8mm diameter round EPDM foam. Here's one website that can supply it: https://www.international-boat-spares.com/en/gaskets-for-hatches-portlights/703-gasket-integration-tradition-hacth-tradition-cristal-portlight-old-hatch.html

They also have the tradition hatch gaskets, which is a trapezoid shaped profile.

The dimensions are given so you could try and source this stuff elsewhere. The hatch gasket could be tricky given it's profile. But 8mm diameter round gasket is common.

Hope this helps.

Hopping on this one- Thanks for the info, Mike
Do you know if the prices listed on their site are per meter?
if so the hatch gasket pricing is confusing, as said 6.02 when click quantity, but has info that says “14.10” per meter
If you dont know I will reach out to them, as I need to order these, as well….
Thanks!

Hi Christian,

That is a bit confusing. Sorry I don't have the answer. I ended up sourcing the gaskets through a local chandlery. They charged 12.59NZD which is about 7.77euro per meter. So hopefully the website is 6.02euro per meter, but definitely ask for clarification. Good luck!

I ended up purchasing new gasket seals from the same distributor.  Just curious on what sealant/adhesive to use to adhere the gasket to the hatch frame?

Thanks,

Any glue will do. It is only to keep the rubber in place. Only to put together the round rubber after cutting it to the correct length you need a special rubber glue.
