hot water boiler on A54 - what capacity?
Vladan SV PAME
Hello group,
Can someone who owns A54 let me know what is the brand and model ( size in liters ) of hot water boiler originally installed on boat. On my boat is ISOTEMP BASIC 30L that start leaking and I need to replace. But I think that is not originaly installed boiler capacity and seems that 40L can be fitted as only 10 cm longer and same diameter. Thanks in advance. -- Vladan A54 #157 SV PAME |

As Bill said, the original was an Isotemp 40 with engine coolant circuit and 750 Watt 230V heater element. I also saw a model with 2 coolant circuits. Intended for a second engine. That seems great to hook up to the generator but it will have to wait until this one fails.

Hi Vladan ,
As a matter of interest , how did you get on with the 30 litre hot tank ? Did you find it adequate ? How many people do you normally sail with ?
The reason I ask is that although we have a 40l on our SM it’s a really tight fit against the exhaust of our Onan . We replaced our Onan recently and the new one is slightly longer than the original . It occurred to me that if the 40 l ever needs
replacing we cd use a 30 l which would fit more easily .
We rarely have more than 2 on board.

Thanks Arno for confirming.
I also see 40L model with two coolant circuits but I ordered with single circuit as it was on stock and it will be delivered to me quickly. Anyhow after lithium and solar panels upgrade on my boat I rarely use generator to produce electricity. Mainly I start generator just to run it from time to time. Hi Ian and Judy,
In summer months I have ussually 2-3 people on board and then 30L is suficient. In winter months it's not enough hot water for two persons to take shower one after other. Need some re-heating in between. At least that was my case. 30L ISOTEMP BASIC is 10 cm shorter then 40L. Diameter is same. Best Regards, -- Vladan A54 #157 SV PAME |
