Odd instructions with new Lewmar gypsy
Scott SV Tengah
I just replaced my Lewmar gypsy (V5 windlass, 203 model for 10mm iso chain) and it came with these instructions, which I cannot figure out.
Are they simply stating the obvious? The chain stripper has two holes in it. The hole closer to the windlass shaft has a bolt that holds it down. The outboard hole accepts the hex bolt that goes through the chain pipe cover, so clearly you don't put a bolt through it until after you fit the chain pipe cover. Or am I missing something? Reference: 1) V4/V5 Windlass Spares | Lewmar On the right side of the image, you can see the stripper with two holes in it. 2) V4/V5 parts diagram The "chain pipe cover" is #17, FYI. -- Scott 2007 A54 #69 SV Tengah http://www.svtengah.com |

Scott, I just did the annual maintenance on my windlasses and agree. They are stating the obvious. That bolt goes in the inner hole or you couldn’t put it back together.
