Painting the deck
Eric Freedman
After 21 years and many miles it is time to paint the deck. I have renewed the black stripes a few times but not the deck. I would appreciate any information from anyone who has repainted their deck with the original color. I would also like to know what paint was used. Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376

Hi Eric and Jeffrey,
After repainting my stripes with a buegler striping tool I wanted to improve the deck colour. It is gel coat, not paint. I used Owatrol Gelcoat and surface restorer. Marine Polytrol. Great result, looks magnificent. I posted photos at the time. Tip. I only used half a litre to do the whole deck, stem to stern. I poured a little into an open plastic container and used a rag to apply it sparingly, well rubbed in. Two years later still looks great.

I am in process of renenwing the deck on my Marmu. It is quite an operation and I decided to rplace the "fake teak" with a painted surface. I am having it done at Pealkes Yard in Tobagon. Just inspected it and it looks great. I can send you pictures if you give me an email. THey first took the gelcoat off painted the deck with and oyster white then taped it and repainted with a tan. I have not got the color specs handy but can get them if you need them. Best Regards Jim Watkins Act II Maramu hull 185
