problem with an old BOXTRON electric box of BAMAR 1.02

Hi amelians

The BAMAR 1.02 of my staysail stopped working. I tested the motor and it worked.
Unfortunately, the BOXTRON electric box needs repair or replacement. The green led inside is not on. Does anyone know if/where I could buy this box?`
I would be more than thankful if someone could share any information about where I could get this box.

You can contact BAMAR directly they can actually refurbish the box for you or you can buy a replacement

Lior, recently I had an issue with Boxtron box as well. In the end it turned out that my box has 3 fuses and one of them blew up. I have 14S and yours is a bit earlier model, so I can’t tell you where the fuses are. Try to search for fuses in the box.

Lior,

Your 54 originally came with 2 Boxtron units for each furler. One was an E14, the other was an EM. As you might expect EM stands for "emergency." It has no safeguards or alarms. The manual states, "IT DOES NOT PROTECT THE DRIVEN FUNCTION."

Unfortunately, too many times when the E14 fails, the owner connects the EM and never replaces or repairs the E14.

Your photo does not look like either the E14, the E14S (newer model), or the EM. I am not sure what you have.

Hi Loir
I had the same problem on Amelia II both on the Genoa and the staysail.
These expensive and fragile components are there to provide soft start stop and an overload switch to the furlers .
If you are careful when furling by keeping minimal tension on the sheets, these can be bypassed and fused by a competent electrician, which I did with no further problems, except water ingress damaging motors, which is another story…

Thank you so much for your feedback. 

Courtney, I contacted Bamar. They told me that it is out of production (too old) and actually the MZ electronic produced it (they were bought from Bamar). I called also BZ electronic but they do not have any spare parts too.

Bill, my version is older and I do not have the second box for the direct bypass. I saw the newer version on a neighbor A54. I have an older version with only one smaller BOXTRON box.

Ruslan, there were two spare fuses outside the box but I did not find even one fuse inside the box. I only opened the box but did not take the electronic part out to search behind it. I hardly can imagine that there is a fuse hiding behind the electronic part but maybe there will be a surprise?

Luis, I hope to find a good electrician. This could be a possibility, to bypass the electric box. 

I know that sooner or later I will have to replace both Bamar systems but I prefer at this time to wait a bit.
If someone is replacing the old Bamar and would like to sell me the old BOXTRON, I would be very thankful.

Just one cent: ask on Reckmann Yachtequipment for these boxes. Reckmann changes on some Amel boats the Bamar furling system to their own which is much more stable. May be they have old stuff from formerly in the corner.

Did you check with Bamar?

 

Last year I ordered from them new EJF furlers and Boxtron E 14 boxes. I assume that they can supply Boxtron EM boxes as well.
