Replacing Volvo D3-110C fuel injectors

Have any of you replaced fuel injectors on your Volvo D3-110C? Did you need to code it with a Vodia tool? The diesel injector mechanic seems to believe so but the Volvo dealer is unsure.

Background:

My Volvo turned off unexpectedly about a year ago and showed the following code: MID 128, SID 4, FMI 11, which indicates an electrical fault or injector issue on cylinder 4. I restarted and everything was fine for a year until the motor turned off twice in two days, prompting me to take out the injector to get it tested. It failed and the diesel mechanic ordered a new Bosch injector, which I now have in hand.

Hopefully some of you have replaced a common rail D3-110 injector before?

Chris,

Apparently common rail injectors need to be coded to the ECU. This is the downside of a clean, efficient modern engine, I guess. Good thing it failed on the way to NZ and not when we're in Papua or Madagascar!

The Volvo D3 uses Bosch injectors. The local Volvo Penta mechanic has never coded a D3 but they have a Vodia tool, at least.
