Replacing Volvo D3-110C fuel injectors

Have any of you replaced fuel injectors on your Volvo D3-110C? Did you need to code it with a Vodia tool? The diesel injector mechanic seems to believe so but the Volvo dealer is unsure.
Background: My Volvo turned off unexpectedly about a year ago and showed the following code: MID 128, SID 4, FMI 11, which indicates an electrical fault or injector issue on cylinder 4. I restarted and everything was fine for a year until the motor turned off twice in two days, prompting me to take out the injector to get it tested. It failed and the diesel mechanic ordered a new Bosch injector, which I now have in hand. Apparently common rail injectors need to be coded to the ECU. This is the downside of a clean, efficient modern engine, I guess. Good thing it failed on the way to NZ and not when we're in Papua or Madagascar! The Volvo D3 uses Bosch injectors.
