Santorin sail area and Perkins diesels

Hi everyone.
can someone point me at the relative sail areas of the Santorin ketch versus sloop? and what’s the opinion of the original Perkins 50hp fitted to the Santorin? Near the end of its life or still a reliable engine ? What is availability of parts still? thanks very much. David. |

I believe the sail areas are the same. The Genoa is the same size but the main boom is longer to give the extra mainsail area. The main mast on both are the same height.

I love my Perkins Prima 50. It is original - 8000 hrs, starts first time, no nasty electronics, easy to service and easy to get spares here in UK. Although you can get Volvo spares for it at much higher prices!! I would have liked the extra HP of the 60, but these boats were built when the engine was meant to get you in and out of harbour and you were supposed to sail everywhere. Just joking!
