SPURS Line Cutter

Hi Amelia's

THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN IS PROBABLY WRONG: A55 Spurs Line Cutter, Type B 1-1/2 inch, 38mm for all SN, SM, A-54 & A-55 through hull number 43 Your 55 is after hull 43. According to the information I have, Amel, for some unknown reason, increased the size of the propeller shaft after number 43. Your is #55 according to your sig above. Don't order until you measure it. I show the shaft as being 50mm, but I have never measured it. Assuming 50mm is correct, you will need a different size. Amel may have it in stock. Bill

We identified a failure of a Spurs component due to electrolysis (that anode really is important) in Turkey while we were on the hard at Marmaris Yacht Marina. The Yanmar shop in Marmaris can get Spurs parts from Istanbul and provided one to us quickly. HOWEVER it was almost the same cost as an entire replacement from Spurs Marine in the USA. What we did following that and what I would suggest is that in addition to purchasing the spare replaceables kit that includes replacment sheaves, set screws, anodes (get several spare anodes) is this------just buy a second complete identical Spurs line cutter. This gives you every spare component that could go wrong and allows you to rehab the one you remove or even send one unit back to Spurs for reconditioning while using the other.
