Tool box storage and other things
Eric Freedman
The first photo is a toolbox that I had built to keep all things organized. When Kimberlite was built, I had Amel add 2 shelves in both hanging lockers.
I keep the heavier tools in the forward locker shelf and have a fiddle that slides fore and aft to keep the tools in place when we get hit by a wave etc.
I also made a drawer under the companionway for the tools that I use 90% of the time.
I had a local carpenter make the sliding door under the microwave to hold spatulas and other cooking implements.
Guests were always complaining about the air was running, in the wrong direction in the forward cabin AC outlet. I modified the hole to mount a plastic vent available from woodworkers’ supplies. I think it is called a blast gate.
40 years ago, I pulled into Bermuda on another boat, I and looked at the mess of wires on the dock pedestal. I measured 440 volts across the 50,amp 220-volt outlet. After that I made this volt, amp, hertz monitor with a separate circuit breaker. I am able measure the pedestal voltage before turning on kimberlite. Twice 440 volts and once 110 volts since then .

On LIBBY SM #196, there is also room for at least 4 Dewalt stack boxes in the fwd stbd closet on the original amel tabbed shelves behind original sturdy sea rails, no modification required. Good sailing, Eric and Robyn

Hi Eric, Thank you from the young sister of Kimberly (ScentStone is SM2K # 375 ;-) for sharing these incredible and great quality improvements. Bravo ! As it was the first purpose of the previous topic I created previously, may I suggest that you post it as well in " Ideas of wooden shelves and (carpentry) improvements…" ? Again thank you to all of you for sharing improvements and experiences on this forum (beside issues, questions and support (thank you Bill Rouse)) |
